Set Up Microsoft Authenticator — iPhone

Microsoft Authenticator provides two-factor authentication (2FA) for your M365 account. This guide covers installation and enrollment on an iPhone.


What you need

  • An iPhone (iOS 16 or later)
  • Access to the App Store
  • Your company email (yourname@questcominc.com) and password
  • A Windows computer with Chrome open to https://aka.ms/mfasetup

Part 1 — Install the app on your iPhone

  1. On your iPhone, open the App Store.
  2. Tap the Search tab at the bottom.
  3. Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
  4. Tap the result published by Microsoft Corporation.
  5. Tap Get, then authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
  6. Wait for the app to install, then tap Open.

Part 2 — Enrol your account on your computer

  1. On your Windows computer, open Chrome and go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.
  2. Sign in with yourname@questcominc.com if prompted.
  3. Click Add sign-in method.
  4. Choose Authenticator app from the dropdown and click Add.
  5. Click Next through the first two screens — Microsoft will display a QR code.

  1. On your iPhone, open Microsoft Authenticator.
  2. Tap Add account (or the + icon in the top right).
  3. Tap Work or school account.
  4. Tap Scan a QR code.

    Camera permission

    If prompted, allow Authenticator to access your camera.

  5. Point your iPhone camera at the QR code on your computer screen.

The app will scan automatically and add your questcominc.com account.


Part 4 — Complete verification

  1. On your computer, click Next after the QR code screen.
  2. Microsoft will send a test notification to your iPhone.
  3. On your iPhone, tap Approve when the prompt appears.
  4. Back on your computer, you should see a Notification approved confirmation.
  5. Click Next, then Done.

Using Authenticator day-to-day

Each time you sign into M365 from a new device or browser, you will receive a push notification on your iPhone. Tap Approve to complete the login.

Keep your phone accessible

Without your phone, you will not be able to approve sign-in requests. If you lose your phone or replace it, contact IT immediately to reset your 2FA.
